On February 1st, Mandarin Inn hosted an enlightening workshop on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), presented by the experienced TCM doctor and acupuncturist, Dr. Marla Sulindro from the Body & Soul Clinic. The workshop provided the participants an interesting journey into the world of TCM, focusing on a holistic approach to combating stress and insomnia.

2月1日,Mandarin Inn举办了一场富有启发性的中医工作坊,由Body & Soul 的资深医生和针灸师Marla Sulindro主讲。本次工作坊为参与者开启了一段探寻中医世界的有趣的旅程,重点是一个对抗压力和失眠的整体方法。

TCM, with its centuries-old wisdom,offers a unique perspective on wellness and healing. It emphasizes the balanceof body, mind, and spirit, viewing illness as a result of imbalances within this system. During the workshop, Dr. Marla first shared the TCM view on stress and insomnia. She explained the theory that these conditions are caused by imbalances within the five elements of nature: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. By understanding the relationship between these elements and the organs of the body, the participants can gain a basic understanding of the root causes of stress and insomnia.

中医,凭借其数百年来的智慧,为健康和治疗提供了一个独特的视角。它强调身体、思想和精神三者间的平衡,认为疾病是这个系统内的不平衡所导致的结果。在工作坊上,Dr. Marla首先分享了中医对压力和失眠的看法。她解释了这些情况皆是由自然界的五行(木、火、土、金、水五种自然元素)之间的不平衡引起的理论。通过了解五行元素与身体器官之间的关系,参与者可以对压力和失眠的根源有一个基本的了解。

The workshop was not only informativebut also interactive. Participants engaged in an interactive session where participants learned some useful take-home techniques for stress management and improving sleep quality. These techniques included breathing exercises and a set of stretching exercises, designed to promote relaxation and a sense of well-being. A curated list of suggestions for better sleep was also provided, outlining various habits and behaviors that could lead to a more restful sleep.

本次工作坊不仅提供了丰富的中医知识,并且还有积极的互动。通过互动环节,参与者学习了一些有用的管理压力和提高睡眠质量的居家妙招。这些技巧包括呼吸练习和一系列的伸展练习,旨在促进放松和保持良好的身体状态。此外,医生还提供了一系列改善睡眠的建议和可以提高睡眠质量的方法。

Auricular acupressure was another welcome session. Dr. Marla explained the ear points and demonstrated the technique of auricular acupressure. All participants had the chance to try it out themselves, experiencing its remarkable effects under the guidance of the doctor.
