隔离 gé lí – Quarantine
集中隔离 jí zhōng gé lí – Centralized quarantine
居家隔离 jū jiā gé lí – Home quarantine
Those who wish to travel to China mainland will now have five days of centralized quarantine instead of the previous 7 days. Additionally, after undergoing the five days of centralized quarantine, arrivals will need to stay at home for another 3 days, known as home quarantine.
For those who are currently living in China, there have also been several changes to pandemic prevention and control measures. The new measures require close contacts to also undergo a five-day quarantine in a facility and to be transferred to their home for another 3 days at home if they finish the isolation healthily.
核酸检测 hé suān jiǎn cè – Nucleic Acid Test
核酸阴性报告hé suān yīn xìng bào gào – Negative Nucleic Acid Test Result
Passengers from overseas will now only need to present 1 nucleic acid test result issued within 48 hours.
During the 8-day isolation, arrivals will receive one nucleic acid test a day for the first 5 days, and another two tests during the 3-day home quarantine. This rule also applies to those who have close contact with confirmed cases. They will receive the same number of tests in the quarantine facilities within China.
密接 mì jiē – Close contact
次密接 cì mì jiē – Secondary close contact
According to the latest announcement, secondary close contacts will no longer to traced. The statement says: “Timely and accurately determine close contacts, but no longer determine the close contact of close contacts.”
高风险地区 gāo fēng xiǎn dì qū – High risk area
中风险地区 zhōng fēng xiǎn dì qū – Mid risk area
低风险地区 dī fēng xiǎn dì qū – Low risk area
Previously, China categorized COVID-19 risk areas into three: high, mid, and low. But now, the risk areas will be adjusted to just high and low. This new adjustment is aimed at reducing travel restrictions.
The high-risk area should be a certain building and if there are no new cases reported from the area for five consecutive days, the control measures and high-risk label should be lifted.
