In the century-old garden house that is Mandarin Inn, we met Timir. An EVP who journeyed from a small Indian village to leading over a hundred Chinese professionals. Living in Shanghai for over a decade, he once believed English was all he needed. Until his return in 2024, when he made a decision that surprised those around him\u2014to learn Chinese, truly and systematically. Not out of professional necessity, but from a deeper realization. His story invites us to rethink the meaning of language learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Head of Emerging Markets, Timir’s schedule is relentless. Fixed class times were impossible. He started with a group class but quickly missed too many sessions. So, he switched to 1-on-1 tutoring for its flexibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He practices over lunch and “embraces every mistake as progress<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
