As of 2023, there are more than 4 million cars<\/strong> mobilizing across Shanghai, causing severe traffics (\u5835\u8f66 d\u01d4 ch\u0113\uff09 on several areas around the city. To handle this issue, Shanghai government has implemented strict traffic measures, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.     Implementing License Plate Lottery System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This measure is done to limit the number of new vehicles on the road by controlling the amount of license plate issuance per month. License plate also needs to be bought separately at around 50 000 rmb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.     Adopting Congestion Pricing Measure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To discourage unnecessary trips, vehicles entering certain zones during peak hours are required to pay a fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.     Building Highways and Roads<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shanghai has an extensive network of expressways and roads. It is home to one of the busiest and widest urban expressways in the world, the\u00a0Yan\u2019an Elevated Road \uff08\u5ef6\u5b89\u8def\u9ad8\u67b6\u6865\u00a0y\u00e1n \u0101n l\u00f9 g\u0101o ji\u00e0 qi\u00e1o\uff09<\/strong>, which consists of a\u00a06-level<\/strong>\u00a0stack interchange.<\/p>\n\n\n
